   "Catullus" by Gargoyle
An classical/orchestral tune from 2000, got 7th place on HMC3. The best thing of my latin course at uni was translating and discussing poems of G.Valerius Catullus, so I consider this tune kind of a tribute to him.

I think it's really difficult to get an interesting melody, and even more difficult to write violin scores in an orchestral tune, and here they sound really good. There are two things i'd improve: the flute melody and the snare drum. Instead of the flute, i'd use other instruments (just an opinion :). The middle part is cool. +4

A gret tune without doubts. As yero's said, perhaps the flute lead sound isnt very appropriate; you could have used horns (they sound very powerful in orchestral compositions) instead of woods. The drum samples could have been more "medieval", with assorted percussion instead of drumkit sounds. Nice sound (perhaps a little "dispersed"). Excellent work in any case.

Good strings, good melody. I LOVE from 3:04 to 4:20 more or less. Anyway I give it a 4 because the drum sets of the initial part and the ones in the "march style" part could have been chosen more wisely.
